Iit is software not a hardware problem tried all the other DUMB fixes. With the generic driver I couldn't disconnect the touch pad and use it. When typing it is possibleto brush or touch the touchpad, causing the cursor to jump around or even leave the window. If it is a generic one it may be the problem.

They seem to not only stop responding, but occasionally misread movement and dart off in completely unexpected directions … like a mouse scurrying for cover. So there must be some interference produced when my wrists lie on the computer or possibly the weight on that part of the laptop. I have read that the only cure is to "re-image" the PC. Including whether it's a laptop or desktop. etc.

It has been three days now without a jumping cursor - what a relief. Takes all of 10 seconds, but it has completely eliminated the problem! this problem had been driving me nuts, by downloading that piece of software I seem to be regaining my sanity.
