Force quit always kills an app instantly (on Vista killing an app can take a couple of minutes of bashing the keyboard). It can access the internet fine, but file sharing is bazzar. It's essentially XP with nicer drop shadows. If your system is a 32bit download the 32bit vista driver.

Right click on the folder, select properties, seclect share, select everyone or homegroup, finalized by clicking on "share". I just had the same problem but I've managed to sort it out. Unlocker is a nice freeware app that sometimes fixes this problem but often it too is helpless against vista's security restrictions. Is Vista (or any other OS) perfect? Its actually funny to me, since that TOTALLY explains a good chunk of the Macintosh demographic, and the reason for its success.
So with that in mind, any pointers to where within the registry to find the necessary settings and what they should read?
