If you need some guidance on this, open Hyper-V Manager and ensure that the host you want to work with is selected. Not sure if it changes your scenario any, but I've never had problems using Disk2vhd to save the output VHD files on an internal drive in the same machine, even if This method gave few errors and issues after the conversion but I managed solve it and boot the virtual machine successfully. Depending on your situation you will most likely need both.
I had the AV running in the background and it was working. Just had to switch the chipset from PIIX3 to ICH9.What's AV in the above post? Reason for the move is to keep the machine active but retire the old/ailing hardware platform it runs on.If I didn't want to keep the machine name and configuration, I would I want to test this.
